Bonnel Creek Falls

Directions: In the northbound lane on Highway 1 just after the the Arlington liquor store (there is a turning lane just before in the south) you need to turn onto Summerset Road. Drive down Summer set road and take your first right onto Sundew Place drive until you reach a Yellow Gate in front of the entrance to an old logging road. Park here to start your journey to the falls.

A short rappel to a spectacular view.

Trail Head: The trail is considered short but moderate as there are steep climbs down to the falls and a short sheer rockface rappel down to the beautiful lower tier. From the yellow gate walk roughly 900m up the barren and bland logging road. Pay attention to the right side of the road at around the 900m mark and you will find a rough trail carving through the remanence of a clear-cut. You will start to hear the falls as you walk further down this trail, it will lead you to a steep decent. There are ropes that assist with the hike down but it definitely is steep and may seem daunting to a beginner hiker or those with bad coordination.

Bramble and his first water fall, you have to be agile like a cat to scale the hill down to the falls.

More Information: There are 4 levels to the waterfalls two of themboasting refreshing swimming holes. There are lots of little trails around and it is a fantastic place to explore. Bring a bathing suit with you when visiting in the summer as this is a great spot to swim. It’s a fairly short hike down to some moderately secluded swimming holes made for the adventurous on a hot sunny day. In the winter and the spring decent can be slippery and increase in difficulty, but still worth it to witness the falls in a more powerful state.

The Second Tier

Bonus: Once you have completed your hill decent, to reach the pool fed by the taller of the waterfalls, turn to you’re right facing the lower tear. From this perspective, towards the forested right corner of the falls there is a spot to get down. Tied to a tree is a rope that provides the means for the short rappel down to a spectacular view and swimming hole.
